Exhibition
Dorothea Hofmann – Drawings

An exhibition of drawings by Dorothea Hofmann (*1929) offers a very different perspective on the achievements of the Hofmann era. From 1950 till 1954, Hofmann attended the Fachklasse für Graphik (graphic design class) at the former Kunstgewerbeschule Basel. In the following decades, she was involved in the development of educational syllabi, publications, and exhibitions in close collaboration with her husband, Armin Hofmann. Dorothea Hofmann has taught at various art and design schools such as Yale University School of Art, the New York Studio School of Art, and the National Institute of Design Ahmedabad and has presented her work at exhibitions in Switzerland and abroad. The exhibition at the Transitlager on the Basel Campus of the Arts presents a selection of large-format charcoal and chalk drawings created from 1988 till 2000.
